Used with the latest E-mount camera bodies, this advanced adapter makes A-mount SSM and SAM lenses compatible with the AF/AE tracking capability of E-mount bodies, even while shooting continuously at up to 11 fps. Refer to "Compatibility" below for information on compatible bodies and lenses.
* Maximum fps is 10 fps with the a7R IV, a9, and a9 II, and 11 fps with the a6600. Continuous shooting speed may change, depending on the attached lens.
Accurate AF and AF/AE tracking for SSM, SAM, and motorless lenses
The LA-EA5 supports all A-mount lenses, including models such as the Sonnar T* 135 mm F1.8 ZA and Planar T* 85 mm F1.4 ZA that do not have internal motors. Full support is provided for focal plane phase-detection AF, Real-time Eye AF (human & animal), Real-time Tracking, and continuous AF/AE tracking at up to 11 frames per second. * As of Sept. 2020, focal plane phase-detection AF is supported for SSM/SAM lenses on the Alpha 7 III, Alpha 7R III, Alpha 7R IV, Alpha 6100, Alpha 6400, Alpha 6600, Alpha 9, Alpha 9 II, and Alpha 7S III. Focal plane phase-detection is supported for lenses that do not have internal focus motors on the Alpha 7R IV and Alpha 6600.
Compact cylindrical design and comfortable operation
A newly developed compact AF drive unit and aperture drive unit are packaged in a sleek, high-performance cylindrical mount adapter. The adapter matches the diameter of the A-mount so that nothing protrudes from the bottom of the mount when used on a compact E-mount body, ensuring comfortable hold and operation even when the camera is mounted on a vertical grip.
