Proving that not all headphones are created equal, the award-winning Beyerdynamic DT 880 high-end headphones combine the strengths of both open and closed technologies to reproduce the complete sound spectrum in stunning detail. The high frequencies sound crystal clear without ever coming across as unpleasant, the balanced mids sound analytical and strong, and the bass is voluminous without being too obtrusive. In total, the phones produce a rich frequency response of 5 Hz to 35 kHz, making everything from classical music to hip-hop to big-budget movie soundtracks sound rich and immersive. The DT 880 headphones are also extremely comfortable during extended listening sessions, with a single-sided cable, replaceable soft ear pads, and a padded headband. And as an aesthetic bonus, the phones offer classic grilles made of high-grade steel. Other features include a semi-open back design, an innovative bass-reflex system, a gold-plated 1/8-inch mini stereo jack plug, a 1/4-inch adapter, and a black carrying case. Made in Germany, the phones weigh 10.4 ounces and carry a two-year warranty.
The Classic Among Premium Headphones
The DT 880 Edition is the classic among the premium headphones from beyerdynamic. Music lovers delight in its natural, vibrant sound as well as its excellent spacious reproduction. The DT 880 Edition attenuates ambient noise, but does not exclude it completely, and thus conveys a harmonious sound experience. These headphones have been part of the beyerdynamic portfolio for 20 years and still enjoy exceptional popularity. All components are available as replacement parts, making the DT 880 Edition a reliable companion for many years to come.
Concert Atmosphere at Home
The DT 880 Edition sounds very neutral and relaxed. The bass reproduction penetrates very deeply, but is not overstated. This feature is particularly appealing to lovers of jazz and classical music because it gives the headphones a really transparent sound and makes the individual components of the music clearly audible. Thanks to its semi-open design, the DT 880 Edition allows some ambient noise to penetrate and espace, but attenuates it somewhat stronger that in the case of a fully open headphone such as the DT 990 Edition.
Excellent Wearing Comfort
The DT 880 is very light for its size and ensures a pleasant fit thanks to its carefully selected materials. The ear pads are known for their breathable and skin-friendly velour, enabling the listener to enjoy music for hours without excessive build-up of heat. The combination of comfortable headband and ear pads as well as the yokes made from aluminum lend the headphones a stable exterior and a pleasant fit for long listening sessions.
Difference Compared to DT 880 PRO Version
The DT 880 Edition headset for use at home and the DT 880 PRO studio headset: both are identical when it comes to sound. Identically designed acoustic transducers are used. However, the Edition models have a somewhat softer headband for enjoying music at home while the Pro headset has a slightly tighter fit on the head so that it doesnt move even in case of faster movements in everyday studio use. Moreover, the PRO version is supplied with a coiled cable and the Edition version with a straight cable.
Three Variants for Different Playback Devices
The 600-ohm version is suitable for HiFi systems with especially powerful headphone outputs or for use with special headphone amplifiers. The 250 ohm version of the DT 880 Edition was developed for use at home on a stereo system. The 32 ohm version is recommended for versatile use including on mobile devices such as tablets or smartphones.
Manufaktur
The DT 880 Edition is available as a Manufaktur edition and can thus be custom designed to suit your requirements. Choose from a range of colours, preferred impedance, housing parts and different cables. All needs can thus be met.
Made in Germany
The quality pledge Made in Germany starts with the high-quality of the built-in parts. The next step includes hand crafting in Germany, where the product is produced with care and attention to detail. Finally, our products are characterised by durability, since many parts can be exchanged and replaced.
Semi-Open Back Design with Adjustable Headband and Velour Earpads
The DT 880's semi-open, over-the-ear design offers slightly increased sound isolation and reduced noise leakage, while retaining the high fidelity normally associated with open-back headphones. The adjustable headband lets you easily create the perfect fit for extended periods of listening comfort. Anywhere you need high-resolution audio performance, the DT 880 delivers with immersive, isolated sound and wearable comfort.
Dynamic Transducer for Increased Fidelity and Performance
Without exception, beyerdynamic manufactures the dynamic transducer systems that go into their headphones in-house. From the magnet and diaphragm to the careful wiring and circuitry, beyerdynamic controls quality at all levels of manufacturing, ensuring superior engineering in their headphones down to the smallest detail.
An extremely strong neodymium magnet system offers the DT 880 highly detailed sound reproduction quality, and is mechanically very robust. This increased efficiency also leaves the DT 880 with greater power reserves for precise linear response that is especially suited for high-performance audio applications where precise audio reproduction is the most important consideration, and dedicated equipment is available such as a headphone amplifier. The large 600-ohm voice coil provides unrivaled response clarity and increased impulse fidelity.
