Drivers who spend a lot of time on the road use radar detectors to let them know if their speed is being detected by a law enforcement radar gun. But, staying away from speeding tickets is not the only benefit drivers will get from owning one. Radar detectors can assist drivers in maintaining better overall safety on the road by providing information on speed and alert systems for a number of instances that motorists encounter every day.
Uniden is one of the best companies in the wireless consumer electronics space with products ranging from home video security systems, scanners, FRS/GMRS and marine radios, radar detectors and dash cams, and more. Uniden has a wide variety of price points to ensure max value and affordability for their customers in addition to the latest innovations and technologies. The high performance and incredible accuracy makes Uniden products perfect for anyone, regardless of their budget. The product highlighted today is their DFR7 radar detector with super long range.
Uniden DFR7
The Uniden DFR7 is a great radar detector with great range, features, and is quite affordable in comparison to other radar detectors with similar specs. With its powerful and reliable performance, precision, and latest in technology, the DFR7 would be the only radar detector you will need for a long time.
First, let’s talk about the range. When Uniden named it “super long range”, they weren’t kidding. The DFR7 is capable of detecting radar signals about 6 miles away for highway and 1 mile away for city driving. This should provide you with enough time to react accordingly, whether it’s slowing down or maintaining your speed. Either way, you know there is a cop pointing a radar gun on the road. At a minimum, this knowledge can provide you added safety from other potential reckless drivers who may react late when they spot the police speeding ticket threat. The DFR7 lets you toggle between city and highway modes as sensitivity presets. Since there is no sensitivity control for each individual band, these two presets make it easier for the driver to transition from highway to city driving. Highway mode will be more sensitive while there will be less outside factors that can cause a false alert while city mode reduces the sensitivity of the K and X bands to meet the needs of a city driving environment.
The DFR7 is also a multi band radar detector and laser detector which means more detecting different police frequencies they use to radar your vehicle. The most used band police operate their radar guns on is KA because this band operates in up to 5 different frequencies vs the 2 frequencies that bands X and K can be used. The DFR7 can detect radar signals from all 3 bands. Police are regulated which bands and frequencies they can use, so this is a pretty cut and dry radar detector that can rest assured detect whatever radar gun is pointing in your direction.
The built in GPS enables the DFR7 to perform and execute its functions with extreme accuracy and precision. This helps product features like traffic sensor monitoring, narrowed band filters, location lockouts and low speed muting for those slow drives or local quick errand runs. Radars are all around us and the last thing you want is to keep getting alerts from non threatening radars. The DFR7 has traffic sensor filters which filters out traffic flow sensors found on highways which in turn means less false alerts and more accuracy. In the US radar guns used to detect vehicle speeds are between 33.4-36 GHz. The DFR7’s narrow band filters for KA band will ensure you only receive alerts when the radar frequency detected is in between 33.4 and 36 GHz. This will drastically reduce any false alerts. Low speed muting also ensures no false alerts when driving within s speeds of the limit. Lastly, the DFR7 allows for up to 100 location lockouts which eliminates false alerts from stationary objects such as a automatic retail door or electronic road signs.
With GPS and location lockouts, the DFR7 does great work avoiding false alerts. the DFR7 allows you to adjust the band sensitivity which in tandem results in less triggers, while the narrow band filters will keep false alerts at bay from K and KA bands. These simple yet powerful features are quite important as cheaper radar detectors are prone to experience false radar alerts from things such as electronically revolving or sliding doors. Having GPS provides accuracy for features like speed and red light camera alerts, location lockouts, and user marks. Speed and red light camera locations can be updated with firmware updates. The Uniden DFR7 has all the features necessary to make it an effective and easy to use radar detector and Uniden made it affordable too. This is the best radar detector you can buy for the money.
Radar detectors can be distractive vs helpful if it doesn’t perform its functions properly. The driver needs to have enough time to process the information and identify the threat prior to approaching the area it’s detecting the radar from. The DFR7 and its super long range works perfectly to inform the driver well in advance of an upcoming radar threat. Additionally, it offers crystal clear voice alerts and has adjustable volume so you can tweak accordingly. This is great for noisy truck cabins, pick ups, cars, or in case you like to show off your singing and jamming skills with loud music from the radio. Plus, with low speed muting, you will be distraction free when driving locally or in que if you’re a truck driver.
