If your New Year’s resolution has become a distant memory, and you put your fitness routine on the back burner for the winter, guess what…spring is finally here, and it’s time to get outside and get active again. With the arrival of spring, you know summer and swimsuit season is just around the corner as well. Now is the time to spring back into shape, and we have the tips to get you started.
Switch Up your Routine
It is easy to become unmotivated by simply getting bored with the same exercise routine. Take up a new activity, or challenge yourself by slowly increasing repetitions or trying to achieve faster times. Keep track of your progress with the rugged and smart Garmin Fenix 3 Multisport Training GPS Watch from Buydig.com that is ready for any training activity and competition with its fitness training and navigation settings.
Take it Outdoors
You don’t have to go to the gym to get an incredible workout. With the arrival of nicer weather, trade the treadmill for a trail; swap free weights with your bodyweight; perform body circuits at a park or beach. There’s so much you can do to get a great workout, so get creative and have fun with it.
Grab a Pal
There’s strength in numbers. A workout partner can help motivate you when you feel like giving up; plus, there’s someone to commiserate with after a particularly hard workout. But keep in mind, not everyone makes a good workout partner. Choose someone who’s at a similar level of fitness and will motivate you, rather than someone who will drag you down or be too competitive. Remember, this is your journey—your friend is there for support and encouragement.
Create Motivational Reminders
Post a motivational quote on your mirror or put a reminder to workout or make smart choices on your phone. If you’re more of a visual person, find a photo that speaks to you. Check the Burn This App for instant inspiration and motivation.
Sign Up for an Event
You’ll feel as though you’re being held accountable just by registering. Even if it’s for fun, you’ll still want to be ready for action. With a goal in mind like competition, you’ll be sure to stay focused.
Choose the Workout That’s Best for You
When you’re just getting back into a workout routine, should you do full-body workouts or focus on one body part at a time to space things out? A lot depends on your individual goals and abilities. It also depends on how much time you have. If you’re looking to burn fat and lose weight, full-body workouts are much more efficient. There are so many outdoor activities to choose from that will give you the full body workout you are looking for such as hiking, biking, running, and swimming, and Buydig.com has the equipment you’ll need for these fitness activities.
Don’t Weigh Yourself Every Day
This will allow you to focus on the positive things you need to do to achieve your goals and not let the scales dictate your emotions. It’s recommended that you weigh in weekly using the Omron Body Fat Monitor and Scale from Buydig.com as this will show your real results.
Make It Fun
Train with friends and get creative with your food. You need to find that balance where you are working hard towards your goals but also still living your life. At the end of the week, celebrate with your fitness pal by making some healthy frozen yogurt with your Cuisinart Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker from Buydig.com.
Getting back into a workout routine after a long winter isn’t easy. Even if you start slow and have a workout buddy, there may be days when you give in to the call of the couch. The worst thing you can do on these days is beat yourself up and give up. Cut yourself some slack, especially early on. You don’t have to feel bad if you do indulge occasionally or miss a workout. It’s about developing a positive relationship with food and exercise that doesn’t involve guilt. Don’t let missing a single day take the steam out of your engine.

Great article – I agree with pretty much everything.
I think the key point is the first one though: keep your routine fresh. I find this doesn’t even need to involve changing the type of exercise or workout – just making sure you’re progressing and beating your previous goals is enough. It’ll also mean you get results faster, which is vital for maintaining motivation.

I really like the ideas in this article. But I think the third suggestion (grab a pal) is probably the best suggest. I mean all other ideas are nice, but it will require a start first. Often the time we tell ourselves to work out and do something meaningful, but many of us can only keep up with this working out routine for few days and then they lose motivation.
Personally for me, having a friend working out with me is a great motivation to go working out everyday. It’s like we’re be able to share the same goals, we also have a “rival” in this “working out” in order to get better. And most importantly, the fun we can have. Having fun alone isn’t bad, but having someone sharing the same goal with us is really a big plus.

This year I really want to be more fit, but I don’t know what to do. Thank you for all the tips on what I can do to be more fit. I think it would be a great idea to have a workout partner that can help motivate me. I will have to see if any of my friends would want to join me.

Great article, I think all of the points mentioned are important for keeping motivated. One thing that I like to do is try to keep my mind focused on the workout whilst I’m exercising. It’s easy let your mind wander during a workout and you’ll end up coasting through without getting the most out of it. So just try and be mindful of when you aren’t fully focused and your gym sessions will also turn into a good way to clear your mind for a while.
