Hot Tips for Great Summer Photography

July 19, 2017 by BuyDig Team 1 Comment

Despite the harsh daytime sunlight of summer, it’s still one of our favorite times for photography. Being outside with your camera in the warmer months just feels so good. If you’re struggling to come up with creative ideas, however, we’ve got a few tips that might help.

Summer Sports- There are some great summer sports out there to shoot. Try your hand at photographing sailing or surfing at the beach. A little league baseball game at the park, or check out a polo match.  Make sure you take a long lens like the Canon EF 70-200mm IS II Telephoto Lens from Buydig.com to enable you to frame your subjects closely.

Beach trip- When you’re planning a photographic trip to the beach check the tide times as well as the weather . The best time for beachscapes is often just after high tide when the pristine sand is gradually revealed. Before you step onto the beach, think about what type of shots you want to take. As well as an appropriate lens. You will want to avoid changing lenses once you’re in the sandy environment. A telephoto optic is great for shooting seaside activities from afar, but you may want something a little shorter if there’s someone you’d like to shoot as a portrait subject. A wide-angle lens, however, is ideal for giving a sense of space.

Play with a polarizer- A polarizer from Buydig.com can also help bring out the white clouds in an otherwise blue sky, cut down on reflections in water and boost saturation. It’s fun experimenting with a polarizer because it can really produce some interesting results.

Go on a picnic-
A summertime picnic with family and a few tasty treats is the perfect opportunity for some nice family portraits. Perfect for a few shots of the whole family having some fun together. For the best results, arrange the family on a blanket in dappled shade. Use a flashgun like the Nikon SB-700 AF Speedlight Flash to brighten things up and inject a little sparkle. If you have a wireless remote, or your camera has Wi-Fi connectivity built-in so you can control it remotely via your phone like the Canon EOS 6D SLR Camera, you can trip the shutter from within the scene.

You can take great photographs in summer just like any other season. You just need to accept the conditions you’re forced to work in. Choose your subjects more carefully and keep an open mind.
