When most people create their ultimate bucket list, it usually requires an infinite amount of money and time to travel the world. We’ve compiled a list that you can complete this winter without leaving your hometown, or if you are planning to travel this winter, you can accomplish the tasks almost anywhere you travel. Many things on this list won’t just benefit you, but they will also make the lives of others better as well. The more things you try to accomplish, the more you will change your life and those around you for the better!
Be a Tourist in Your Own City
Many people are choosing to spend their vacations at home or in their hometowns rather than traveling somewhere. By choosing a staycation over an expensive vacation, you’ll save money and fall in love with your city all over again. There are several ways to enjoy and even get to know your hometown better.
- Attend a baseball, football, or any other type of sporting event, and get into the spirit of your city by experiencing it the way a tourist does.
- If you’re near the mountains, there is always something to do, from skiing to hiking. You may even find hot springs to dip into in the middle of winter.
- Most large cities offer an all-inclusive city pass that allows entrance into several major attractions such as aquariums, zoos, amusement parks, and museums at a discounted rate.
Visit the places that you have always promised yourself you would get around to seeing “one day”. Wherever you decide to go, don’t forget to take your camera from Buydig.com. You don’t want to miss out on capturing those special memories.
Spend the Day at a Spa
When you think of a day spa you most likely think of a place where only the rich and famous can afford to go. Although there are several places that fit those criteria, you may possibly have a very nice spa right in or near your hometown that provides services well within your budget. Even if you can’t afford to go for “The Works”, you could probably afford a hot-stone massage, a pedicure, and/or a facial at a local spa. You could even check out booking a spa day at a resort spa. Many resorts like the Sanctuary Resort Spa in Arizona allow you to spend the day at the resort with full access to the resort including the pool and restaurants as long as you book at least one spa service. You can have all of these amenities just by booking an enjoying an $85.00 pedicure!
Volunteer Vacation
How would you feel about marking off two items from your bucket list at once? You can take a once in a lifetime vacation and volunteer to help change someone’s life or the world around you at the same time by taking a volunteer vacation. There are several options available from cruises to places like the Dominican Republic where you will work alongside others in areas of education, environment and economic development. If you would like to stay closer to home, you can volunteer at national parks like Yosemite where you’d be helping with trail maintenance and restoration. Or if you are planning a winter staycation, there are always places right in your hometown looking for volunteers such as the animal shelters, community kitchens, Salvation Army, and elementary schools.
Try Some Daredevil Winter Sports
Try marking some of your outdoor activities off your list by trying out snowboarding, skiing, ice skating, sleigh-riding, riding on a horse drawn sleigh, driving a snowmobile, or even building an igloo or snowman. Or, if you are really wanting to feel the cold, go all in and take the polar plunge for a charitable cause.
Adopt a Shelter Animal
Nothing will warm your heart more during the dead of winter than fostering or adopting a dog or cat from the local animal shelter. If you’re not able to commit to a full time pet, then maybe you can volunteer your services at the shelters for a few hours a week. Even if it’s just to cuddle, play or even read to the animals. They love human interaction.
Instead of just hiding out under the covers or sitting by the fire drinking hot chocolate at home waiting for the snow to melt and the warm weather to return, take advantage of this time by creating and completing some activities on your winter bucket list.
