Even though some parts of the country saw snow the second weekend in April, summertime is actually coming soon! For many of us that means MOVIES! This summer, we have an interesting batch of films for the avid movie-goer. From Superheroes to pets, from sequels to remakes, this summer’s movies are sure to be topics of discussions well into the Christmas Holiday release dates! So without further delay, here is a short list of must see movies coming to a theater near you this summer.
Captain America: Civil War– Coming May 6- Hyped to be the big film of summer. The Avenger’s universe starts to expand its characters in this movie. The members of the team become divided as they disagree and feud over the new status quo.
Independence Day: Resurgence– Coming June 24-This follow-up to the 1996 movie takes place 20 years after Will Smith fought off the first alien invasion. This time, it’s up to Jessie Usher-playing the role of Captain Steve Hiller’s son-to save the world.
Ghostbusters– Coming July 15- Thirty years after Aykroyd and Murray saved the world from ghosts that had a knack for possessing humans, Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig are taking over where they left off!
Jason Bourne– Coming July 29- Matt Damon is back! Sure to be jam packed with action and suspense, Bourne followers are sure to leave satisfied at the end of this 5th installment of the series.
For the kids this summer:
Finding Dory– Coming June 17- Ellen Degeneres returns as the forgetful fish in the sequel to the 2003 Pixar film Finding Nemo. Dory is reunited with Nemo and Marlin as she tries to find her own parents
The Secret Life of Pets- Coming July 8- A privileged inner-city terrier teams with a spirited mongrel to prevent a sinister bunny from assembling an army of abandoned pets to stage a massive uprising. You just THOUGHT you knew what your pet did when left home alone!
The BFG– Coming July 1, on Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday. This classic book by Roald Dahl is brought to life by Disney and Steven Spielberg. A big friendly giant introduces a young girl to the wonders of Giant Country.
Pete’s Dragon– Coming August 12- A Disney remake of the 1977 classic of the adventure of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliott. (Who just happens to be a dragon)
So pick your favorite movie. Grab your date or children. Head to the theater and load up on popcorn and your other favorite snacks.
