DJI is a manufacturer that is largely considered the industry leader in gimbal stabilizers for DSLR Mirrorless cameras, such as ones from Canon, and smartphones like iPhone or Android. They are also the industry leader in drones and drone camera systems with a DJI drone lineup that includes the DJI Mavic, DJI Air3s, and gimbal stabilizers for your phones and cinema camera which are amazing for content creators to ensure high quality videos and photos. These DJI products include the DJI Osmo Mobile, the DJI Ronin, DJI RS3 Mini, the DJI Osmo 360, the DJI Osmo Mobile 7, and the DJI Mini 4.

So, we are pleased that DJI announced the new addition to their gimbal stabilizer lineup, the DJI RS4 Mini. We love when there are DJI rumors about new products, as we have been greatly impressed with the other DJI products we have reviewed.

This new DJI 3-axis stabilizer is geared towards content creators and Vloggers, with abilities like vertical shooting in addition to the native horizontal set up. You can also use this stabilizer to hold your new camera or smartphone like an Android or Apple iPhone. You get an amazing point of view and can FPV, or First-Person Viewer, with ease of use and the all-new Intelligent Tracking Module on the DJI RS4 Mini. This feature engages automatic face tracking, which assists immensely in videography as you can ensure that this new feature will have your subject appear clearly, sharply and without blur or shake whether you are doing backward tracking of the subject or a fixed position tracking.

You can use the extended grip with its controls including the ones on the touchscreen, which allow you to control things such as how much you want to zoom in on your subject. Plus, with the built in Bluetooth you can pair this easily with your smartphone, download the accompanying DJI app so you can look back on photos you may have taken days ago, and make any necessary post-production editing to get your exposure ready for upload to your social media page.

The all-new Active tracking Pro module supports tracking up to distances of 10 meters, and functions reliably in a wide variety of shooting scenes. For example, if the subject of your photoshoot leaves the shooting scene temporarily, the gimbal can find and follow the subject again automatically. This is an amazing feature for beginner photographers as well as just making things easier.
5. The gimbal stabilizer from DJI has a horizontal plate, which is also a quick release plate, allowing for simplistic back and forth switching between horizontal and vertical shooting. There is no need for additional accessories to achieve this. This will allow the automated axis locks on the DJI RS 4 Mini to make this gadget extremely versatile. Battery Life/Connectivity

There is a non-detachable battery included which gives the user a max usage time of approximately 13 hours. So you’ll get plenty of juice for those long Vlog sessions without having to worry about running out of power. We do, however, recommend getting a power bank for charging when traveling, as this stabilizer does not have a detachable battery, a spare battery won’t help; having that power bank can be a real boon if there are no charging receptacles available. You can wirelessly control the functions of the stabilizer and camera or attach your device using the included latest generation USB-C port on the stabilizer for a wired connection or go for a Bluetooth connection.

Thanks to being in the DJI eco-system, you can connect the intelligent tracking module like on the DJI RS4 Pro. However, this model does not support the DJI Ronin image transmitter or LIDAR focus pro, which again, is only found on the DJI RS4 Pro. However, for the price difference of approximately $500.00 this is an extremely affordable and niche unit, which is great if you are on a budget.

When paired or connected to the DJI Mic Mini, you will get amazing audio that will shine through clearly, perfect for a Vlogger or Content Creator. You can use the included Bluetooth to pair with your phone and it will be saved so you don’t have to re-pair it in the future. Plus, the joystick helps with the new zoom control function. This even allows for the use of power zoom lenses in addition to prime lenses and you get the clear zoom technology.

When the gimbal stabilizer is paired with your phone, you can use the Bluetooth to get to the DJI app and download firmware updates. We recommend installing firmware updates if available upon purchase.

Photography and Videography Tools

For even more control over your camera and/or smartphone, we recommend shooting in manual mode, increasing the functionality of the gimbal stabilizer. That way, you can manually set them in camera settings such as the focal length, aperture opening, ISO number and white balance. Therefore giving you the ultimate control to get the best exposure based off your photography scene.

If you are a professional photographer or videographer, and have a staple of DSLR mirrorless cameras, you want to ensure that they are compatible with this new stabilizer prior to purchase. Thankfully, this is compatible with a wide variety of cameras from manufacturers like Sony, Canon, Nikon and others. Plus, it can also be used with any model iPhone, even the large iPhone 16 Pro Max or large Android Phones like the Samsung Galaxy S25. Don’t be alarmed, this also works well with smaller framed smartphones as well such as the Apple iPhone SE or the Samsung Android FE 8 as examples.

The extended tilt axis of the DJI RS 4 Mini gives you tremendous functionality and allows you to find the correct angle and height for the perfect shot. Plus, the ability to easily switch between vertical and horizontal shooting as we previously mentioned is great for professional looking filmmaking just ready to be uploaded and shared to your family, friends and colleagues on your social media page.

The OLED touchscreen, which gives your plethora of control options, adds tremendous functionality on the DJI RS 4 Mini. Plus, as a photographer, you may need to have easily accessed controls to focus on different subjects or objects in your photoshoot without being distracted by having to look away from the viewscreen, so your full video comes out look fantastic.

When filmmaking and shooting a full video, a gimbal stabilizer like the DJI RS4 Mini gets you the ability to shoot clear, sharp and vibrant videography and photography. You can’t compare the results you get from handheld shooting to using a gimbal stabilizer like this.
