It’s that time of year again. Time to break out all of the holiday classics that put everyone in the festive spirit and get you ready to start celebrating the holidays. So gather up all your family and friends and host a Holiday Movie Night in the comfort of your own home. Here are some tips and ideas to make your movie night one your friends and family will never forget.
The Classics
Make sure you have a wide variety of the all-time favorite holiday movies, that way there is something for everyone on your guest list. Some of the favorite classics include “The Polar Express’, “Charlie Brown’s Christmas”, “Elf”, “A Christmas Story”, and “The Grinch”. Depending on the ages of your attendees, you may want to start off the evening with the kids’ favorites. Then once they go to bed, you can break out the more mature classics for the adults to enjoy.
Baby it’s Cold Outside
You’ll want to make this movie night as cozy as possible. Chances are it is going to be cold and maybe even snowing outside. Be sure to have a lot of cozy throws, big fluffy pillows and floor pillows around for everyone. If this is a sleepover, make sure to have everyone change into their pajamas before the movies start. Have a nice cozy fire built to add to the ambiance. If you don’t have one, it’s the perfect time to purchase an electric stove from Buydig.com.
Snack Time
What’s movie night without popcorn? Why not really go beyond the box and try this Peppermint Bark Popcorn that will go perfectly with the season. Or you can pop your own with this pro popcorn maker from Buydig.com and add your own flavors like cinnamon or caramel. Instead of the traditional bowls for your popcorn, set out these nifty paper serving cones for them to use instead. You simply roll and tape a piece of cardstock and then tie a matching ribbon around if you choose.
Set out a candy buffet with some of the traditional movie theater candies in bowls. You can also go with some holiday candies such as peppermints, miniature candy canes, red and green chocolate candies, or gum drops. Cute printed bags for guests to use to gather their candy will add a festive touch.
As far as beverages, the little ones will enjoy sipping on hot chocolate topped with miniature marshmallows and a peppermint stick for stirring. While a classic holiday adult beverage like a cranberry margarita will help quench the thirst of your 21 and over crowd.
Game Time
Add to the entertainment and keep your guests engaged with some games like holiday Bingo. Decide during which movie you will be playing, the rules and prizes before the party. Create Bingo cards with regular holiday items such as stockings, eggnog, snow, someone trims the tree, and charity. Regular Bingo rules apply. Pictionary is another good game to play after each movie. Teams draw scenes or characters from the movie while the other team tries to guess.
Go dig out those DVD’s and kick off this holiday season the right way with the best holiday movie night ever!
