It’s National BBQ month this month and that means that this is the perfect time to check over and add to your collection of grilling gadgets, tools, and utilities before Memorial Day weekend gets here and the pressure is on to pull off the perfect, picturesque patio party in your backyard!
First things first, make certain you take the time to prepare your grill for use if it’s been stored away during the winter. If you’re using a propane-fueled grill, checking it over carefully after letting it stand idle for months is especially important. Once that’s done, it’s time to assess whether or not you have all of the accessories and gear you’re going to need for the grilling season to come. If you’re not certain what you might need, feel free to read over our helpful checklist below!
1) Meat Flavor Injector
A very useful tool for making certain that your roasted, flame-seared, grilled, or otherwise-prepared meats keep their juicy, tender flavor, a handy meat flavor injector makes a great addition to any backyard gourmand’s toolkit.
2) Grill Thermometer
If your grill doesn’t have a built-in thermometer (most lower-range ones or charcoal-fired grills don’t come with one), then having a wireless grill thermometer can help you with determining if the grill is hot enough to cook the dish you’re planning.
3) Basting pot and brush
A must-have for the BBQ maestros, having a good basting pot and brush can help you with adding sauces to your grill dishes without making a big mess. The brush lets you apply the sauce evenly, too, which makes for less stress and tastier meals!
4) Fajita Set
If you love Tex-Mex cooked over the open flame, then having a pre-seasoned cast-iron fajita set like this one from Cuisinart can make cooking them a real cinch. Also, who doesn’t love the idea of grilled fajitas?
5) Grill Press
For hamburgers, steaks, and other meats or dishes that need a bit of light (or heavy) pressing, having a grill press handy is definitely a good idea.
6) Hot Dog Roller
If you have children — or if you just really like hotdogs — then having a hotdog roller about is pretty much the best idea ever. It will let you cook plenty of hotdogs at once without running the risk of them drying out, exploding, charring, or any of the other problems which would lead to no hotdogs and therefore sadness.
7) A full toolset
Not sure where your tongs are? Can’t find your skewers? Grill spatulas? Then grab a full tool kit with grilling utensils and always be at the ready when grilling is called for.
8) Cleaning brush and grilling mitts
Having an extra grill cleaning brush around can be really useful, especially if you’re a frequent grill user. And, you should never ignore safety so having a grill gauntlet/mitt around is a better than good idea.
Grilling is a great, easy, and fun way to cook during the warmer spring and summer months. Up your grilling game with grilling gear that will make your life easier when you do it!
